OUR TEAM
Meet Our Awesome Team
"School is Cool!" Huh, sure. No, really, I agree. School is cool. But if I’m being honest, the best part of school was when it wasn’t school. The cool stuff happens whenever class is over. That's right, I'm talking about breaktime, lunch, and end of school day. Oh yeah, and P.E. class, too, when we'd go to the gym and play whatever sport, even though I'm not really into sports, as long as I'm outside of the classroom and not burning my ass sitting for hours on boring subjects.
I'm not saying school is not important, because it is. Kids should be taught at least two things- Basic education which includes Math, Science, MAPEH, Social Studies, Computing, those things. And the second is Values education. Especially Values education. It should be at the top of everything else, even math. Screw math. As long as I know the four basic operations, I know I'll get by. Leave the more complicated stuff to the geniuses who enjoy that kinda stuff.
The world won't run out of those kinds of people. It's the genes, you know? Stop forcing it on the other group of students who prefer to learn things that are more fun and interesting for them.
But values? That should be in every school's top priority subjects. Kids these days just wanna shake those booties on Tiktok and hope it brings them fame and fortune. That's just not it, boys and girls.
I can't be the only one who thinks that traditional school is falling behind, struggling to keep up with how fast the world is changing. If you walked into most classrooms today, you’d swear it was still 1998. Some schools may be trying, but there's still little focus on real-world skills like emotional intelligence, digital literacy, or even financial management.
I wonder how many parents in this generation are no longer afraid of discussing money stuff with their kids, like our parents and grandparents were back in the day?
Everyone is still forced to learn the same way, same subjects, as if each individual is born with exactly the same interests in mind, and with the same natural strengths and weaknesses. I don't know about other parents, but I won't force my kid to go to college unless he wants to have some kind of profession that would require it- Engineer, architect, lawyer, doctor, teacher, etc. If he would, then he's got our full support as his parents. I think our genes might say otherwise, but that's not for me to decide.
I just don’t want my son to go through a system that doesn’t even try to understand him.
I also can't be the only one with that kind of thinking as a parent, can I? Though I'm sure there are still many out there who enforce the old-school parenting style: Force their kids to go to college. Either they choose what course their kids would take, or they don't care at all as long as they finish college. If they find it useful because it will fulfill their dream, good for them. They're on the right track. If not, well, damn waste of money.. and youthful years.
Let’s be real - if your kid’s not learning what matters to them, they’re just wasting time. And if they’re in college for someone else’s dream? That’s not education. That’s a scam.
"Math question: Bob has 36 candy bars. He eats 29. What does he have now?
Kid's answer: Diabetes. Bob has diabetes."
That was just a meme I saw online. Was hella funny to me but I definitely wouldn't want my son answering his exams that way. If I was the kid's teacher, I'd probably just smile and give that kid's ear a cutesy little pinching because, even though he got it wrong, it made sense. I mean, not in the context that the exam was asking for, but it still made sense.
But in the real world(if that meme was real, could be just a joke, I don't know), I'm sure the teacher just quickly told off that student without giving him/her a chance to express his/her own thoughts.
That’s why kids end up scared to think outside the box. School taught them it's safer to be quiet and stick to the rules, than be curious and get it wrong. Yeah, it's a joke, but if a joke like that makes more sense than half the stuff in a workbook, maybe it’s the system we should be questioning, not the kid.
I've been throwing my honest thoughts here and I'm not about to stop - schools love turning kids into rule-following robots. Sit down, be quiet, memorize this. No one's teaching them how to think - just what to think. Then we wonder why no one knows how to think for themselves anymore.
If I was allowed to learn what I actually wanted in school, I’d be playing drums, writing stories, maybe dancing, maybe drawing. Just doing things that actually made me feel something. If math wasn’t treated like some kind of judgment day, and I could say “pass” without it ruining my grades, maybe I would’ve even enjoyed learning it.
Maybe school would’ve felt like a place where I could grow - not just survive.
And that’s what I want for my kid. Not a system that tells him who to be, but one that gives him space to figure it out. If that means breaking a few rules or skipping the traditional path, I’m cool with that. I’d rather raise a kid who knows how to think for himself than one who’s just good at following instructions.
We say school is for learning - but what if it’s the system that needs to learn first?
